Today I’m going to discuss 5 Facts about Hypertension.
Hypertension is defined as elevated blood pressure.
When we assess blood pressure, we perform 2 readings.
We measure systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure.
Systolic blood pressure is the pressure generated in the heart when it is ejecting blood.
Diastolic blood pressure is the pressure generated in the heart when it is collecting blood.
Hypertension can be an elevation in systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, or both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
Untreated hypertension can increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, heart failure, and sudden death.
